Thoughts: Remember a place where you used to live – a place where you were loved and respected?
Philippi was such a place for Paul. It was the first place where he preached. Because Philippi prided itself on its Roman heritage, the people were very receptive to Paul, who was a Roman citizen and very highly educated. So it is not surprising that the Philippi church was Paul’s favorite. He remembered fondly the loyal and generous people in this church. Twice in Philippians 4:1, he calls them “dearly beloved.” Paul always hoped to return to Philippi, but that proved impossible. Discussion: Of the places you have lived, what is your favorite? Why? Activity: Through some small act of kindness, encourage one member of our church family think of Troy First as a favorite place. Remember in prayer this week Fred Laws, Connie Gill, Vivian Hansard, Eunice Kraase, June Lamm, and Martha Meyer.
