Thoughts: My stove is 32 years old. The right front burner hasn’t worked for six years. The clock, the time and the oven light all gave out long before that. The oven is unaware of self-cleaning. I could use a new stove.
But I am afraid to buy one. I would have to learn how to use it, and new appliances demand an engineering degree. Are we similarly afraid of reading the Bible? Do we think we need a degree in theology and a smattering of Aramaic to understand it? To his disciples, Jesus explained the Biblical prophecies which foretold his death and resurrection, “… that they might understand the scriptures.” After Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples returned to Jerusalem “… with great joy.” Discussion: If we studied the bible, what would our emotions be? Activity: Read the Bible for ten minutes each day for a week. _________________________________________________________________ Remember in prayer this week Michelle Freeman, Bob & Vivian Grusnick, Vivian & Stu Hansard, June Lamm, Cathy Miller and Mildred Parker.
